Be A Healthy Role Model for Kids

Aug 12, 2011   //   by Coach Paula   //   Blog, Nutrition  //  No Comments

Looking around at the places I go, there are so many kids that are obese. Most of the time, it is not their fault.  They simplyy follow the patterns or the guidance of their parents.  We need to step up and make sure our kids have a happy, healthy life.  Life is tough enough without putting obesity in their path when they’re just getting started.  We all know it’s not easy to lose weight, or to change bad habits.  It all starts with us, the parents.  Here is a flyer from ChooseMyPlate.gov that has some great tips on things we can do to encourage healthy eating and activity with our kids.

Are you ready to start living?

Aug 9, 2011   //   by Coach Paula   //   Blog, Life  //  No Comments

This was posted by a great friend and mentor of mine, Mindy Lawhorne:  “When I hear “I don’t have time”, “It cost too much” and “It won’t work” it translates to me as “I don’t want it badly enough”, “It’s not important enough to me” and “I would rather live a mediocre life that try for something great”. So no more excuse because you can’t fool me.”

I must say that I have to agree.  It sounds a little harsh, but the truth is the truth.  The programs that I follow, and the foods & supplements I eat are not the cheapest.  However, they are the best.  Sure, I’ve said the same things, “It’s too expensive. I don’t have time” and so on.  But when it comes down to it, what I need is something that works, and something that is good for me.  If I want it bad enough, I’ll spend the money and I’ll make the time.  Once I finally started putting these into action, my life changed!

So, if you are ready to live a healthier, happier life, then you HAVE to make the decision to put in the time it takes, and spend the money necessary to get to your goals.  If you are still stuck in the excuses, you’re not serious, and you don’t want it bad enough.  I don’t care if it’s now or later, I’m here for you.  Let me tell you though, the longer you wait, the harder it gets, and the more easier those excuses come out of your mouth.

I’ve got a few comparisons for you, so please read just a bit further.

1.  How much does your health cost you now?  How much do you spend on medications, vitamins and doctor bills?  What if you spent just $360 for 3 months and no longer spent the money on some, most, or even all of the medications and vitamins that you’re buying now, FOREVER? Oh, and you will feel good too!  That right there is worth the $ (which translates to savings) to me!

2.  How much do you spend on a gym membership?  Most are $50-$150 a month (and do you really go?)  What if you could workout, with a personal video trainer (and have a personal coach/motivator) for 3 months, for only $120?  Plus you would get a “diet” meal plan included?  Oh, and a chance to win some money.  Wow!  Sounds like a deal to me!  We all have $120 to spend, even if you have to save $10-20/week.  The results will be life-changing!

3.  The older we get, the more things we have to do, and the less energy we have to do them.  With proper nutrition and exercise, we will have the energy.  If you’re sitting on the couch watching tv for 3 hours, you’re going to feel sluggish.  If you stand up, move around, do some jumping jacks, your blood will start pumping and your adrenaline will start flowing.  Do this for 10-50 minutes a day with a guided program, and you will feel better, have more energy, and maybe even lose a few (or a lot) of those unwanted pounds.

So, no more excuses.  I’m here to help you right now, because you’re fired up right now, and that’s the best time to get started.  Don’t wait. Don’t go surf the net. Don’t get stuck in FB lala land.  Message me, tweet me, email me, something!  I’m here to help you on the road to a healthier, happier life!

The1 worst, and 5 best exercises

Aug 5, 2011   //   by Coach Paula   //   Blog  //  No Comments

Great article from BodyBuilding.com about 6 important exercises.  In most of the Beachbody workout programs, you’ll find these same moves, (the “best” ones) in several variations.  As much as I dread the pull-ups, after reading this article, I will be adding it to my regular workouts and pushing myself harder.  I already love lunges and squats.  What are your favorite exercises?
